‘I moved to Margate from London in October 2016 and I haven’t looked back since. I’d spent 25 years building a catering business for John Frieda’s hair salon in Mayfair and before that running the Milk Bar in Ibiza. I was definitely ready for a change and a new challenge! I knew I wanted sea air and more time with my family. However, none of us could ever have imagined how our new life would turn out. It all started with us buying our own holiday let in Margate. As I got to grips with the process of running an AirBnB I realised I really enjoyed it. At the same time there was a whole host of new bars, theatres, cafés, galleries and interesting shops opening. Suddenly more and more of my friends were moving down too, having been inspired by my new life. I got to know more and more people and suddenly it became difficult to walk down the street without bumping into someone. We would spend hours swimming in the sea, hanging out on the beach and enjoying the new local scene. It really felt like a real community.

Friends (and then friends of friends) began to ask me for advice - where to buy, how to run a holiday let, what to charge and so on. They then began asking if I could manage and co-host their properties. As I was enjoying managing my own seaside rental so much, I had no difficulty saying yes. The business has evolved completely organically over the last few years through our collective love for Margate and all the great people that live here. I now have my own office overlooking the sea which has its own laundry and doubles up as a key and luggage drop. I love what I do and am lucky enough to co-host so many incredible Airbnb’s in Margate’
